Information about the House

The 1889 Victorian house has elegant woodwork throughout the whole house. The three main doors from the entry hall and parlor have original etched glass windows depicting hunting scenes. You can go out on the beautiful porches from the parlor and enjoy the sunshine the whole day long. Behind the house there is an unspoiled Victorian carriage barn. The pergola with table and benches is ideal for summertime barbecues.

On the first floor you can find a fully equipped kitchen and pantry.  There is a dining room, parlor, library and drawing room.

There are five bedrooms on the second floor. The rooms are romantically furnished with period antiques. There are two bathrooms.

History

The house was built by a rich saw mill owner.  After gold was discovered in Bridgewater, Hermon G. Davis sold his saw mill to the gold mining company and built his new house on the site of the old Southgate Farm.  It is a wonderful example of Queen Anne Victorian style with it ornate porches and balcony on the top floor.
